A consortium of eight universities in the Slovak Republic has signed up for a subscription to the IEEE/IET Electronic Library (IEL). University consortia are often organized so that some or all universities in a country can subscribe to the same digital library. The schools collectively purchase a subscription at a discounted rate. The European Union helped fund the Slovak subscription.

The five-year agreement gives students and staff members access to IEL’s more than 2 million standards, journals, conference proceedings, and magazine documents. IEEE staff plan to travel to the universities in June to train the consortium members how to use IEL.

The Slovak schools are Matej Bel University, Banská Bystrica; Technical University Kosice; the University of P.J. Safárik, in Kosice; the University of Zilina; and in Bratislava at the Comenius University, the Slovak Center of Scientific and Technical Information, the Slovak University of Technology, and the University of Economics.
