I’d like to correct something in “In the Movies: Humans and Robots in Love” [April 2008]. In the movie Blade Runner, Rick Deckard, played by Harrison Ford, falls in love with Rachael, a “replicant” or android difficult to distinguish from a human. Without spoiling the plot, Deckard is not a human. This is a case of robot-robot romance, not human-robot love.
If, on the other hand, you are commenting on the 1968 Philip K. Dick novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, which inspired the movie, you may have a point. The debate rolls on.
