Region 10: Asia and Pacific

26 January 2016   More than 20 IEEE student branches presented their activities and achievements at the IEEE Lahore (Pakistan) Section annual general meeting. The meeting was on 29 December at the Lahore University of Management Sciences. The IEEE student branch at UCET Islamia University, in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, received the section’s 2015 Best Student Branch Award. The branch’s former chair, Saad Rind, received the Best Student Volunteer Award. The awards were presented by Dr. Faqir Zarrar Yousaf, a research scientist at NEC Laboratories, in Heidelberg, Germany. The branch’s current chair, Mudassir Amin, also received a certificate of participation from Mehvish Zahoor, the IEEE Region 10 student representative. The IEEE student members at UCET were recognized for carrying out IEEE’s mission by helping to educate other students through technology. They also helped students at Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan, form their own IEEE student branch.
