Nominations Needed for 2018 IEEE Medals and Recognitions

Nominations for 2018 medals and recognitions are due 15 June

23 December 2016

Each year IEEE pays tribute to technical professionals whose outstanding contributions have made a lasting impact on technology, the engineering profession, or humanity. The IEEE Awards program seeks nominations annually for IEEE’s highest-level awards—Technical Field Awards, Medals, and Recognitions—which are presented on behalf of the IEEE Board of Directors.

The Medals and Recognitions are presented at the IEEE Honors Ceremony. The 2017 event is scheduled for 25 May at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, in conjunction with the IEEE Vision, Innovation, and Challenges Summit.

You don’t have to be an IEEE member to receive an award or to nominate or endorse a candidate. Nominations for 2018 Technical Field Awards are due 15 January, and Medals and Recognitions are due 15 June. These are annual deadlines.

The IEEE Awards Board has an ongoing initiative to increase diversity among candidates considered for IEEE Technical Field Awards, Medals, and Recognitions, including their technical discipline, geography, and gender. The board also is working to ensure a diverse group of volunteers is on all the selection committees. You can help by nominating a colleague for one of the following awards.
