IEEE Std. 802.21-2008, released January 2009
The IEEE Standard for Local and Metropolitan Area Networks—Media Independent Handover Services is the latest addition to the IEEE 802 group of wireless standards. It covers media access–independent mechanisms that optimize handovers among heterogeneous IEEE 802 systems and between IEEE 802 systems and cellular systems—both wired and wireless. The standard also can be used for handovers between 802 and non-802 networks.

IEEE Std. 1675-2008, released January 2009
The IEEE Standard for Broadband Over Power Line (BPL) Hardware covers testing and verification practices for commonly used hardware—primarily couplers—for installing BPLs. It also explains safety procedures to follow when operating BPL hardware.

IEEE Std. 1076-2008, released January 2009
The IEEE Standard VHDL Language Reference Manual defines the Very High Speed Integrated Circuits Hardware Description Language (VHDL), which is used in all development phases of electronic systems. The manual covers the development, verification, synthesis, and testing of hardware designs; the communication of hardware design data; and how to maintain, modify, and procure hardware.
