Sometimes, a lot of damage can be done with a simple phone call. In a live demonstration at this year's Hackers of Planet Earth (HOPE XI), in New York City, Eric Corley (frequently referred to his pen name, Emmanuel Goldstein) and other panelists demonstrated various techniques that hackers use to access information just by talking to the right people and asking the right questions. In one example, Goldstein calls a Starbucks employee pretending to be a truck driver who was denied access to a store late at night because the rear door was locked.
