IEEE Xplore Adds IBM Journal Articles

IEEE Xplore digital library will include more articles on computer hardware, software, and information systems.

5 February 2010

Thanks to IEEE’s recent agreement to publish more than 5000 archival articles from IBM journals, the IEEE Xplore digital library will soon have a wider selection of technical articles on computer hardware, software, and information systems.

The articles are scheduled to be available starting in March from IBM’s well-regarded Journal of Research and Development and Systems Journal. The Journal of Research and Development contains papers on computer science. The Systems Journal covers software systems and architecture. The two were combined last year into one publication, the IBM Journal of Research and Development, which also deals with cloud computing and data preservation.

As part of the agreement, IEEE is handling the production aspects of the publication, including copyediting, data conversion, online hosting, and system maintenance. IBM is responsible for acquiring content and the peer review process.

IEEE Xplore subscribers can buy single articles or a subscription package that gives them access to the articles from the current IBM Journal of Research and Development, as well as from the older IBM Journal of Research and Development and the Systems Journal, some dating back to 1957.
