Three IEEE members have been recognized for accomplishments in their careers

17 September 2015

Senior Member G. Satheesh Reddy has been appointed scientific advisor to Raksha Mantri, head of India’s Ministry of Defense. Reddy will serve a two-year term.

He is director of the Research Centre Imarat, a defense technology hub in Hyderabad, India, where he is in charge of the design and development of inertial sensors, satellite navigation systems, missile components, and calibration techniques.

Senior Member Yiyu Shi received the 2015 Innovation Award from the Academy of Science of St. Louis. The award honors a scientist or engineer under the age of 40 who has demonstrated exceptional potential for future accomplishments in science, engineering, or technology.

Shi is being recognized for his work on 3-D integrated circuits, which stack multiple chips vertically. Such 3-D ICs are smaller, faster, and require less power than their 2-D counterparts.

He is an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology, in Rolla. He is a member of the IEEE Communications, IEEE Computer, and IEEE Electron Devices societies.

Fellow Raman M. Unnikrishnan received the 2015 Educator of the Year award from the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce.

He is dean of California State University, Fullerton, where he has developed new degree programs, improved the structure of existing engineering and computer science programs, and formed a number of new collaborations with industry.

Unnikrishnan is a member of the IEEE Communications, IEEE Control Systems, IEEE Industrial Electronics, and IEEE Technology and Engineering Management societies.

IEEE membership offers a wide range of benefits and opportunities for those who share a common interest in technology. If you are not already a member, consider joining IEEE and becoming part of a worldwide network of more than 400,000 students and professionals.
